About the role
As the Deputy Chief Scientific Advisor, you will support the Chief Scientific Advisor and be an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team within the Science, Technology, Analysis, and Research (STAR) Group.
Key responsibilities
- Leading and championing the independent science advisory system.
- Providing scientific leadership to support the Home Office through considerations that affect policy and operational delivery decision making across the entire Department.
- Communicating the evidence gaps that are important to the Home Office.
- The post holder will be the Deputy Head of Profession the Government Science & Engineering profession.
- Responsibility for the management of the supporting offices of the Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner and the Forensic Science Regulator.
- Leadership and management of the DG STAR corporate support team
