Vacancies: 2 Team Leader roles (Grade 7) – Department for Transport Office for Science- 26 July

Department for Transport’s Office for Science has two new permanent posts for people with a strong science or engineering background and some wider experience in Government, academia, consultancy or elsewhere.

The first post is to help deliver the Future of Mobility, the Governments foresight project into the future transport needs of the UK. CS Jobs Reference number: 1547905

Vacancy: HEO CBRN Desk Officer, Science & Technology Unit, OSCT, Home Office

The Office for Security and Counter Terrorism (OSCT) supports the Home Secretary and other Ministers in the development, direction, implementation and governance of the UK’s strategies for countering terrorism and reducing the risk from organised crime.

The post is based in the CBRNE and Science & Technology Unit, which forms part of OSCT’s Protect, Prepare, CBRNE and Science Directorate (PPCS). The Unit is responsible for leading work across government to counter the terrorist threat from conventional explosives and from CBRN, and for harnessing science and technology (S&T) to support OSCT policy leads in delivering counter terrorism and serious organised crime objectives.

Learning & Development: Royal Society Pairing Scheme

The pairing scheme offers civil servants the chance to be paired with a practising research scientist to find out more about their work, how it is used in policy making, and how to access evidence and expertise.

This annual scheme is focused on a week in Westminster,  4th-7th December, when you will need to be free for your pair to shadow you.

This scheme is jointly provided by the Royal Society and the GSE profession and Policy professions and gives policymakers and research scientists an opportunity to experience each other’s worlds.

Vacancies: 2 Team Leader roles (Grade 7) - Government Office for Science

Working at the leading edge of the science-policy interface, the Government Office for Science ensures that government, from the Prime Minister and Cabinet down, has access to the best scientific advice possible when developing policy. As part of the Go-Science team, you will support the Government Chief Scientific Adviser (Sir Mark Walport).

The posts are based within the Science and Security Deputy Directorate in the Government Office for Science. The Deputy Directorate focuses on issues related to the government’s own science and capability, domestically and with our international partners.
