For the first time, there is a Civil Service Award category that seeks to recognise the excellent work of scientists and engineers undertaking high quality evidence based research in science, engineering and technology across government.
Recognising Scientists and Engineers
“The Use of Evidence” award has this year been strengthened to encourage applications from government scientists and engineers. Sir Mark Walport, Head of GSE and Government Chief Scientific Adviser will champion this year’s award. He has said:
This new look category is a great chance for scientists and engineers working in government to celebrate their successes and achievements. I strongly encourage everyone in this community to seize this unique opportunity and apply.
The GSE profession team spent several months working behind the scenes to make sure that science, engineering and technology is properly captured in the new criteria. The hard work has finally paid off! We hope the changes that have been made, will inspire scientists and engineers to apply. It is a positive step towards achieving our vision for “a high profile, proud and effective GSE profession”.
