Royal Academy of Engineering Survey
The Royal Academy of Engineering have commissioned a survey on 'Understanding the Culture of Engineering'.
The Academy’s vision is of an inclusive profession that inspires, attracts and retains people from diverse backgrounds and reflects UK society. The purpose of the survey is to help the Academy answer the following three questions about engineering:
• How do people currently working in engineering perceive the culture?
• How inclusive is the culture of engineering currently?
• How can the sector create a more inclusive culture for the future?
The deadline for the survey is 27 Jan.
Civil Service Learning (CSL) & KPMG Curriculum Showcase event, 2 Feb 2017
This showcase event will be an opportunity for you to learn more about the new core curriculum for the Civil Service. There will be representatives from the KPMG consortium for CSL, including LEO, and The Open University.
With over 120 new topics to explore, such as Leadership and Management, Customer Service, and Digital, you will have the chance to experience the learning in action, hear more about the blended learning approach and understand how the subjects align to the capability requirements in your organisation.

Does your role involve intellectual property (IP)? Maybe you generate IP and would like to better understand what protection there is, or perhaps you've never thought about IP and simply want to know more. The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is the government rights-granting body for all aspects of IP - patents, trade marks, designs and copyright. This GSE-specific IP training day is open to anyone in the GSE Profession. It includes time with a patent examiner working in your area of technology, and counts for CPD. Vacancy: Research Lead and Technical Advisor, Aviation Security (SEO) - DfT
The Department of transport is recruiting an SEO scientist to join its Transport Security Research, Analysis and Development (RAD) team. The RAD team is a small group of scientists providing expert advice on technology and techniques to counter the terrorist threat to transport based on an extensive research programme developed and managed by the team. The post holder will be technical lead for the cargo and hold baggage research programme, using the evidence base provided by the research to provide expert technical advice to transport security policy colleagues. Training in relevant aspects of security technology and transport security will be available to the successful candidate. This is an exciting opportunity to work in security science within government and is open at Stage 4. Further details are available here. Closing date is 16th Jan.
