We have something to celebrate!
We need diversity in our scientific and engineering community, from researchers to advisers to technicians and more. It is crucial we work together to get the best science and engineering outcomes possible, and we need to respect and enable everyone taking part in that endeavour.
And so we have something to celebrate! New government data shows that for the first time ever there are one million women in core-STEM occupations. This is an increase of over 350,000 in the last ten years. Today the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) campaign is running an event to celebrate this achievement that anyone can get involved in.
We should celebrate this success …
There are lots of ways you can get involved to mark 1 of the Million. You can share your photo and story on the WISE webpage to inspire more women into stem roles, you can encourage others in your organisation to take part too, or you can join the campaign on twitter.
… we can aim to do even better
There are valuable diversity and inclusivity initiatives going on across the Civil Service. However, the Government Science and Engineering Diversity and Inclusion Action Group is focusing on improving the equality, diversity and inclusion across the profession within Government.
