Senior Scientific Officer (SSO) roles in Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Blog Series, GSE Opportunities

We are recruiting 3 SSO roles in the Chemicals, Pesticides and Hazardous Waste team in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Effective management of chemicals and pesticides is required to ensure that society understands the benefits of these substances, and any harmful effects on biodiversity, the environment and human health are minimized.

Two of the advertised roles are Scientific Project Officers in the central Evidence and Analysis hub (one will focus on chemicals, the other specifically on pesticides). These roles will involve scientific project management, liaising with researchers and arm's length bodies, and communicating closely with policy teams.

The third post, UK REACH Work Programme Scientific Advisor, will offer scientific support to the UK REACH work programme, shaping decisions to authorize, restrict or ban chemicals to protect human health and the environment.
